This edition of bisascreening presents a special line-up, showcasing short films, animation, and music videos created by both students and alumni. Each work highlights a unique artistic approach while demonstrating how the academic environment continues to serve as a strong foundation for fresh creative ideas.
One of the highlights is the short film The Most Handsome Fish on Earth (Ikan Terganteng Sedunia), a collaboration between alumni, faculty members, and students. The story follows two friends, Kayla and Heidi, who accidentally kill Tejo the school’s mascot fish recently crowned as “the most handsome fish in Indonesia.” In their panic, they attempt to cover up the incident from the school authorities. Blending humor, absurdity, and subtle social critique, the film demonstrates how a seemingly simple premise can be transformed into a bold cinematic work. It also stands as proof that cross-generational collaboration can spark powerful storytelling.
The short animation Child Star, produced by ONN Studio, was also featured. It tells the story of Robin, a rising child star who longs for the freedom to play outside, yet is trapped in the pressures of fame and her complex relationship with her mother. With colorful visuals and symbolic storytelling, the film invites audiences to reflect on the impact of stardom on childhood and family bonds within an Asian cultural context.
From the music scene, two student-produced music videos were included in the program. Romansa by Pop at Summer brings a bright, energetic mood with dynamic visuals that perfectly complement the summer-pop vibe of the song. In contrast, Jorja by Skinnyfabs offers a more intimate and reflective atmosphere, creating a personal and emotional viewing experience. Both works illustrate how students are able to extend their storytelling skills into popular mediums that connect directly with young audiences.
The inclusion of these works in bisascreening is more than just a screening—it is a celebration of creativity from both students and alumni. Through short film, animation, and music video, the program shows that learning, exploration, and collaboration can lead to works that resonate beyond the academic sphere and into the wider creative industry.
