From Campus to Cinema: UMN Alumni Behind Indonesia’s Box Office Hits”

Alumni from Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) continue to make significant strides in the Indonesian film industry. One of them is Novia Puspa, a graduate of UMN’s Film program, who served as producer for the animated feature film Jumbo, produced by Visinema. Jumbo marks a major milestone in the growth of local animation, showcasing high production quality and a heartfelt story that has captivated audiences across the country.

Another proud achievement comes from Gerald Mamahit, a UMN alumnus who worked as the screenwriter for the horror phenomenon KKN di Desa Penari. The film not only sparked widespread public attention but also broke records to become one of the highest-grossing films in Indonesian history. Gerald’s success demonstrates how UMN graduates are creating stories with both cultural impact and commercial appeal.

The involvement of Novia and Gerald in these major national films is a testament to the quality and competitiveness of UMN alumni in the creative industry, especially in filmmaking. Their achievements serve as inspiration for current students and aspiring young creators, showing that with dedication and creativity, they can make their mark on the national — and even international — stage. UMN remains committed to nurturing young talent through a curriculum and ecosystem aligned with the evolving needs of the industry.
